Susan Bogen, Montvale, NJ
Susan Bogen has been working as a studio potter on and off since 1977, and consistently for the past 12 years. She received a BS at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and has studied at Penland School of Crafts and the Art School at the Old Church. Susan works primarily in porcelain and stoneware and fires both in a gas reduction kiln to cone 10 and in a wood fired salt kiln. As is evident in her work, Susan has studied Japanese and Chinese brush painting and draws inspiration from Asian and Islamic pottery in the way geometric design and nature interact in these works.
